Trade
Have your eye on one of the saddles we have to offer, but need to sell your saddle first? We accept trades!
As much as we would love to, we cannot pay retail price for your pre-owned saddle - we still need to be able to make a profit! Trade value is dependent on the saddle’s brand, size, and condition. Most trades are offered 50-65% of the saddle’s lowest used selling price, with the occasional exception contingent on the saddle’s condition. Consignment
If you have a pre-owned saddle you'd like to consign with us, please fill out the form on the "Get in Touch” page. Please include photos and details on your saddle (brand, model, seat size, tree width and flap).
We will then contact you to schedule an in-store intake appointment or to have you ship your saddle to us. Be advised that when your saddle arrives from being shipped to us, it must still pass a physical in-person inspection as a final qualification. If for any reason it is disqualified, the client will be contacted to arrange the return shipping. Please note that shipping expenses are the client’s responsibility.
Consignment Policy:
- Commission Fees:
- Saddles under $1,000 have a 25% commission fee.
- Saddles over $1,000 have a 20% commission fee. - The commission fee is based on the final sale price & covers the cost we incur in detailing, marketing, and advertising your saddle.
- There is a six (6) month limit on saddles left on consignment. Should your saddle fail to sell within six months, you will be contacted to pick up your saddle. Should we be unable to reach you, Midwest Saddle Company reserves the right to donate the saddle to a local charitable organization.
- Seller agrees that consigned items may, at Midwest Saddle Company’s discretion, be removed from the store by prospective purchasers for demonstration purposes and that some wear and tear may result. Seller agrees that Midwest Saddle Company will not be responsible for the loss of or damage to the items while on consignment with Midwest Saddle Company, other than for loss resulting from negligence of Midwest Saddle Company or its employees.
What to know before bringing your saddle in for consignment:
- All saddles must be clean and in good condition.
- Saddles must not have any rips or tears in the leather or any loose structural stitching.
- Our agreement requires that you commit to leaving your saddle a minimum of 30 days. If you must have it back before 30 days, you'll pay a fee equal to 10% of the listing price. This fee offsets the time and labor it takes to evaluate, photograph, and bring your saddle into our store inventory.
What to Expect:
- Midwest Saddle Company will work with you to find a price that is realistic based upon our experience, sales history, and current market conditions.
- Each saddle receives a website listing containing several quality images.
- Thorough, accurate descriptions help potential customers determine if the saddle is an appropriate fit for their needs.
- Safe, secure shipping to potential customers.
- Customers will have the opportunity to purchase your saddle with full advantage of return policy, credit card payments, and buy now pay later options (this provides you payment up-front, but allows the customer to make payments).
- Every saddle we offer comes with a seven (7) day trial period in which customers are allowed to ride in the saddle (not including shipping time). A full credit card authorization is collected and customers are responsible for any damage done to the saddle over the course of the trial. Your saddle is insured when it is shipped. Please review the Saddle Trial Policy for additional information.
